Jacob Wallenberg opens season two of the Nordic Infrastructure podcast

Infranode launches the second season of its podcast Nordic Infrastructure: Behind the Decisions, where Co-founder and CEO Christian Doglia meets the people behind the decisions shaping Nordic infrastructure and the green transition. The first guest of the new season is Jacob Wallenberg, Chair of Investor and of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise.

By combining professional insight with personal reflections, Nordic Infrastructure: Behind the Decisions offers perspectives on the ideas, challenges and individual journeys that influence the development of infrastructure and investment across the Nordics. Each episode explores the sectors, companies and decision-makers shaping the region’s infrastructure landscape.

The new season opens with a conversation with Jacob Wallenberg on long-term thinking and the future of infrastructure investment in Sweden.

“Infrastructure in the Nordics faces significant challenges, but also considerable opportunities. If the right investments are put in place and executed wisely, infrastructure can play a key role in the transition as well as in strengthening growth and resilience. Our guests bring breadth and thoughtful perspectives on what needs to be done, and how,” says Christian Doglia.

In the first episode, Jacob Wallenberg reflects on how the public debate around society and infrastructure has evolved over time.

“Perspectives have changed. When I began my career, a long-term horizon meant somewhere between 20 and 30 years. Today, anything beyond six years is often considered long term. In our business, long-term thinking has always been fundamental. We think in terms of 110 years rather than ten,” says Jacob Wallenberg.

Sweden is currently facing substantial need in infrastructure investments. A maintenance backlog that has grown over decades, demographic change, the green transition, electrification, and an increased focus on resilience and preparedness have all intensified the need to renovate, expand and invest in infrastructure. In their discussion, Christian Doglia and Jacob Wallenberg examine what is required to ensure that necessary investments are realised, and how these investments can support Sweden’s competitiveness in a changing world.
